GENERALITIES
Effectiveness of Atoderm Huile de Douche is also provided by Skin Barrier Therapy TM patent.
This patent contains sugar esters that regulate the skin flora. Thanks to their structure and surface-active properties, sucroesters can act in different ways to prevent the adhesion of S. aureus :
- A non-specific interface action, such as disrupting the bacterial membrane especially at the attachment systems
- Specific biological action by interacting with or saturating one or several adhesins on S. aureus and/or the corneocytes of the stratum corneum, thereby preventing their adhesion.

A clinical study was realized to evaluate the Skin Barrier TherapyTM anti-adhesion effect of staphylococcus aureus on the skin. The results showed that after applying the bacterial suspension, the average found was 276 bacteria per field. Lastly, in the presence of the polysorbate, the number of adherent bacteria decreases significantly by -57%* (1)
After 27 days of Atoderm Huile de Douche application, the hydration power was evaluated by corneometry and the result demonstrated an increase in hydration level (+26%*) (2)
Moreover, the restructuring of skin barrier was mesured and after 27 days of application the results showed a significant reduction in TEWL by -12%* (3)(a)
The hydration and protection efficacy of Atoderm Huile de douche and Atoderm Intensive Baume in association was evaluated: after 21 days results demonstrated a significant TEWL(a) decrease (-21%)*(a) reflecting a protective effect. Moreover, this association also induced a significant increase in the skin’s hydration level of (+93%*) (4)
TOLERANCE
Ocular and cutaneous tolerance of Atoderm Huile de Douche were evaluated as very good (5.6)*
p≤0.001, Student Test, after 27 days
(a) TEWL: Trans Epidermal Water Loss. The lower it is, the more water remains in the skin and therefore the barrier function of the skin is important.
> PATIENTS FEEDBACKS
100% of patients thought that skin is comfortable and satiny immediately after application. The skin is nourished and soothed. (5)
After 24 hours of application, 80% of patients found that the product reduced itching sensations (6)
